Kathleen McLean


Kathleen McLean is currently the Associate Principal Bassoonist of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra since 1990. A busy chamber and studio musician, she has performed with such groups as New Music Concerts, Music Toronto, and the Amici ensemble and is a member of ChamberWorks, Musica Franca and The Caliban Quartet of Bassoonists. In 2001, she was chosen to participate in the World Orchestra of Peace made up of the finest orchestral players from across the world. She repeated this experience in the summer of 2005 when she toured Asia and Europe with the World Orchestra under Valery Gergiev. She was a student of Sol Schoenbach at the Curtis Institute of Music and she teaches at the University of Toronto and the Royal Conservatory of Music.
